PollyEster, our local Bielefelder, gave us the following tips for this weekend –
The FH Gestaltung/school of design at Lampingstrasse 3 is presenting the works of this semester’s graduates in photography, advertising and fashion design on Friday from 6 p.m. It will be open Saturday (11 a.m. – 6 p.m.) and Sunday (11 a.m. – 5 p.m.), too. To get to the exhibition, take tram line 4 up to Oetkerhalle. The opening on Friday is followed by a party at Nr. zu Platz, a small venue for concerts, parties and ping-pong (on Thursday nights) next to the Recyclingbörse and Cutie cafe (near the train station.)
On sunday morning, it is worth to take a trip to Bielefeld’s north to the shores of Obersee to join the traditional “Eiswette” – a bet to see wheter it is possible to cross the lake on ice or not. There weill be pea soup, Glühwein, fried sausages, stuff for kids and music and if you have a penguin costume it is an excellent opportunity to wear it. This is what it looked like in 2012 and here
Transition town Bielefeld organised a swap cafe at the IBZ on Teutoburger Straße 106 two weeks ago like  the one that took place at the sadly closed Eisbar in Altstadt.  They also have a repair cafe this sunday  from 2-5 p.m. If you have small (electrical) items that need fixing or want help with repairing clothes, this is the place – there will be coffee and cake, too. To get there, take a bus till stop “Volkshochschule”, not far from Real supermarket and Wäschereifabrik museum or tram line 3 up to “August-Schröder-Strasse”.
